The weeks in mid-winter, from the Shabbat of parshat Shmot to that of Mishpatim (the first letter of the six parshiyot of that period spell out ShOVeVIM, a word which also means "demons") is seen as a particularly propitious time to rectify spiritual flaws realted to sexual immorality.
