This book deal with the commandment of not to waste one's seed. The wasting of seed includes masturbation, barrier forms of birth control, nocturnal emission, as well as having sexual relations with non-Jewish women. Traditional Judaism holds that every drop of semen has life force. When used in a correct manner (i.e. with one's wife), whether or not it causes pregnancy, semen brings life force into the world that raises divine sparks to heaven (kabalistic notion).
